Vein stripping

A plastic cannula is inserted into the vein, and the vein is removed or "stripped".  The procedure is performed under general, regional or (occasionally) local anesthesia.

Vein stripping is uncommon and is usually reserved for those patients who cannot have a laser treatment (due to vein tortuosity) or who have failed a prior laser treatment.
